Cardiovascular diseases account for almost half of the total deaths around the globe and form the main reason for escalating health care costs with hypertension being the major risk factor for cardiovascular and renal mortality. Sedentary lifestyle, smoking, high sodium intake and an inadequate consumption of other minerals such as potassium, calcium and most important magnesium are the main causes for this emerging trend of hypertension even in young individuals. According to the recent research by the University of Hertfordshire, taking magnesium supplements was found to offer significant implications in lowering high blood pressure.
Conclusions of the study
The was conducted on 1,173 individuals with the dosage of magnesium supplements ranging from 120 to 973 mg and a follow up was carried out between 3 to 24 weeks. The overall result concluded that magnesium results in reduction of systolic as well as diastolic blood pressure levels. Moreover, the effect of magnesium in reducing blood pressure levels is directly proportional to its dosage, with best results obtained with high dose. This meta-analysis study was found to have significant medical intervention in reducing hypertension as well as its associated risk factors with implication of future clinical trials.
Male fertility problems are largely overlooked and women are generally targeted to undergo extensive, expensive and invasive treatment procedures along with requirement to take medications. Also, the current available fertility treatment options such as IVF (in vitro fertilization) aim at women to undergo painful and powerful procedures of extracting and implanting eggs that require spending thousands of pounds. Women account for only a third of all fertility problems in couples with men taking the lead with known or unknown cause.
What are its significant implications?
According to recent medical invention, scientists discovered new chemical compounds which help couples to conceive naturally by boosting the ability of sperm cells to swim through the cervical mucus. This leads a way for production of gel to enhance male fertility and too in a less invasive and cost effective way. In general, fertility treatments are aimed at helping the sperm to reach the egg and thus this new discovery paves the way for better treatment option. Majority of young men have poor quality semen and these compounds which are in early stages of testing, cause more sperm to reach the uterus and thereby increase the chances of natural fertility.
Have baby at any age through ovary transplant
A miracle in its own term, the recent medical breakthrough has aimed women and came with flying colors that can benefit the women most. This medical intervention has led to the conclusion that women can conceive at any age with the help of ovary transplantation technique. This is really a boon for women who can now do not worry about the so called biological clock timing to get pregnant.
How can it be achieved?
Scientists claim that women can decide when to give birth and accordingly they can stop their menopause through implanting ovaries by ovary transplant. This can be achieved by removing a small piece of ovarian tissue and then freezing it. When any women reach their menopausal age, the tissue can be transplanted back and she can never go through menopause. The results proved that these transplanted ovaries can remain effective till seven years allowing women to delay their motherhood.
Three women already went through this procedure and gave birth to seven babies thereby providing a choice to when and how to plan for children, independent of their age.
